Daily Devotions
Scripture Union develops Bible-reading notes, because we believe that the Old and New Testament are God-breathed, since their writers spoke from God as they were moved by the Holy Spirit; hence, they are trustworthy in all that they affirm, and are our highest authority for faith and life.

We publish Bible notes that help Christians to read the Bible regularly, systematically, thoughtfully and prayerfully. To benefit from these notes, you will need:
A regular time every day, when you are most wide awake and not in a hurry,
A quiet place, where you can meet with God undisturbed,
A Bible, in a translation that you can understand,
A notebook, in which to note down lessons learnt in your Bible reading, and a pen to write in your note book and to mark the Bible as you read.

Pray
Start with prayer. Remember that you are entering God’s presence; confess your sin. Pray that the Holy Spirit will help you to understand and respond to what you read.

Read
Read the Bible passage for the day carefully. Read it again, so that it penetrates in. Listen to what God might want to tell you.

Meditate
As you read, observe key words, events, places, people, and prayerfully ask for the lessons that are there.

Most notes have observation and application questions to guide your study of the passage. They lead you to explore if there is any example to follow or to shun, any command to obey, any promise to believe or hope for, any warning to heed, any prayer to remember or truth God is revealing to you in the passage.

Respond
Respond to the passage in prayer,
Turn your discoveries about God into worship,
Turn your discoveries about yourself into decisions, and
Write it down lest you lose it.

Share
Decide how you will share your discoveries with other people, both in word and in practice.
